NBA superstar Chris Bosh, former University of Arizona guard Miles Simon and former UCLA forwards Travis Wear and David Wear showed up at the Palisades High gym for a workout Wednesday morning with Dolphins girls basketball head coach Torino Johnson. The players practiced their shooting, dribbling and passing.
“Pali High girls hoops is going undefeated this year!” Bosh shouted as he swished a baseline jumper.
Playing alongside fellow superstars LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, the 30-year-old Bosh averaged 16.2 points and 6.6 rebounds per game last season and made a career-high 74 three-pointers while helping the Miami Heat reach the NBA Finals. On July 30 he re-signed with Miami.
Simon was named Most Outstanding Player in the 1997 NCAA Tournament in which Arizona eliminated three No. 1 seeds — Kansas, North Carolina and Kentucky — on its way to winning the national championship. He played five games with the Orlando Magic in 1999 and led the Dakota Wizards to the CBA championship in 2002.
The Wear twins were high school All-Americans at Santa Ana Mater Dei and began their college careers at the University of North Carolina. They transferred to UCLA after their freshman year and graduated in June.
