2020 Oratorical Contest | Pacific Palisades
The 2020 Optimist Oratorical Contest was held this year in the form of a Zoom meeting, chaired by Palisadian Susie DeWeese. The contest was judged by Fran Flanagan, Liliana Cerilo and Lorna Riley.
“We had nine entries, all from Palisades High School and Paul Revere Middle School,” DeWeese shared in an email. Four participants moved onto the District Contest: Julia Abbot, Michael Brent, Selene Lam and Carter Yean, with Lam, a student at Pali High, taking second place.
“The others all did us very proud under difficult circumstances,” DeWeese wrote. “Hopefully, all of them will return next year to complete again and maybe we will have a regular contest at the Palisades Lutheran Church again.”
