‘Fragile Links’ | Topanga
Three artists—including Palisadian Russell Hunziker—will explore the “fragile links” between themselves and the people, places, animals and environment of the world in an art exhibit at Topanga Canyon Gallery, which opens Friday, June 11.
“It’s easy to forget how special and fragile our relationship with the world is,” a press release ahead of the exhibit stated. “Every living thing borrows space on the earth and is transient. From the smallest microorganisms to the largest animals, all life on Earth has a common ancestor. Everything is connected to everything.”
Hunziker’s work includes landscape paintings, which “ask us to look past the beautiful natural world that he depicts and see the underlying environmental damage that humans have caused.” Other artists on display are Patrick Ramsey and Sari Scheer.
A reception for the exhibition will take place on Saturday, June 19, between 12 and 5 p.m. The gallery will be open Friday through Sunday between 12 and 5 p.m. through July 4. Private viewings can be arranged by appointment through calling 310-454-5144.

Hiker Rescue | Santa Monica Mountains
Los Angeles Fire Department issued an air and ground response to a lost/stranded hiker above Quarry Canyon on Sunday, May 30, at 3:26 p.m., according to a report by LAFD Spokesperson Brian Humphrey.
“He is being hoisted aboard a hovering LAFD Rescue Helicopter and transported to safety,” Humphrey continued. “Though this rescue is near the recent 1,202-acre Palisades fire burn scar, this incident is not related to that fire or recent fire department operations, and there is no new wildfire in the area.”
The hiker was reported to be uninjured.
