Palisades Podcast Hosts Alan Eisenstock | Pacific Palisades

The August episode of Palisades Podcast, which has resumed after a one-month hiatus in July, will feature Palisadian writer Alan Eisenstock, who took a leap of faith when he walked away from a successful television writing and producing career to follow his dream of writing prose.
Within one year of moving to Los Angeles to pursue screenwriting, Eisenstock began a 25-year career in the industry, writing sitcoms like “Mork and Mindy,” “Angie,” “Family Matters” and “The Nanny.” He described his career as “great” and “lucrative,” but that somewhere along the line, he lost “that rush” and “desperately wanted it back.”
“In the seventh grade, I wrote my first magazine article,” he told the podcast hosts. The piece was a “detailed account” of Eisenstock’s “one and only failed and humiliating ski lessons.”
He submitted the piece to Reader’s Digest, which returned it with a note from the editor that urged Eisenstock to “keep trying.”
Since changing his career, he has penned 18 books, with his newest coming out in September called “Redeeming Justice” with Jarrett Adams.
He shared that he savors the fact that for the second time in life, he has had the chance to “take a plunge” into something new: “In fact, every writing day is a new adventure.”
Each month, Palisades Podcast features a new episode with a local voice, hosted by longtime community members Steve Cron and Maryam Zar. To check out this episode and others, visits palipost.com/palipodcast.
