Bicyclist Rescue | Pacific Palisades
Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the rescue of a solo mountain bicyclist on August 21 at 8:13 a.m. near Sullivan Fire Road in Pacific Palisades, according to a report from LAFD Spokesperson Brian Humphrey.
“Solo mountain bicyclist fell in remote terrain, sustaining an unspecified non-life-threatening injury,” Humphrey wrote. “He was medically stabilized at scene by LAFD ground and air crews.”
The bicyclist was then reportedly hoisted aboard a hovering LAFD rescue helicopter and transported to a regional hospital.

Refillery LA | Pacific Palisades
The Refillery LA truck will be present at the Temescal Canyon Road farmers market on Thursday, August 26, between 3 and 5 p.m. The truck is a “mobile refill station offering eco-friendly soaps, detergents, personal care products and more,” according its website.
“Reduce single-use plastic pollution by refilling your household products at Refillery LA’s mobile refill station,” Resilient Palisades wrote in an Instagram post ahead of the visit.
Those who wish to visit the truck can either bring their own container or purchase one at the mobile refill station. Refills are sold by the ounce.
The market is located about one-half of a mile up Temescal from Pacific Coast Highway and about one-third of a mile south of Bowdoin Street on the east side of the road.

Family Challah Bake | Castellammare
Chabad of Pacific Palisades and Palisades Jewish Early Childhood Center will host a pre-Rosh Hashanah Family Challah Bake on Sunday, August 29, between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
“Enjoy a morning together with family and friends as we learn to knead delicious challah and discover how a shofar is made,” according to a flyer about the event.
The cost for a family up to four is $54 or $20 for an individual. Snacks will be served.

Palisades Branch Library will host a virtual book club for middle grade readers on Saturday, August 28, starting at 10:30 a.m. The book to be discussed is “The Wild Robot” by Peter Brown.
