Library Aims to Open in 2021 | Palisades Branch Library
The Palisades Branch Library, which has remained closed since COVID-19 pandemic-related restrictions first went into place in 2020, will potentially reopen as soon as December 27, according to Los Angeles Public Library Public Relations & Marketing Director Peter Persic.
“Work is proceeding and we are aiming for a December 27 reopening,” Persic confirmed in an emailed statement. “Once the work is completed we will set the date and announce it.”
The library was first closed due to COVID-19 precautions and later sustained damage in a fire in October 2020, keeping it shuttered past other libraries’ reopening dates as restrictions lifted across the city.

‘PLAYLAND USA’ Screening | Castellammare
Villa Aurora will host a screening of “PLAYLAND USA” and conversation with Benjamin Schindler and Heike Paul on Thursday, December 16, at 7:30 p.m.
The documentary was described in a press release as “a poetic time travel fantasy through the imagined history of the United States as a modern fairyland, along the traces of our desire for illusion and escapism—fatally bound between fact and fiction, anticipating the current reality shifts in the U.S.”
According to the press release, the film “shines a light onto the continuing loss of touch with reality” in the country, with Schindler taking a “wide perspective to capture the extent of fictional manifestations” and using “close-ups to give the floor to those who’ve chosen to call surreality home,” including a doomsday preacher, ghost hunter, Santa Claus and cinema owner who believes in UFOs.
Admission to the event, which takes place at 520 Paseo Miramar, is free. RSVP at vatmh.org/en/va-events-en.html or by calling 310-454-4231.
