In addition to a Community Town Hall to be held at Palisades Charter High School at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6, to discuss the increasing rate of crime in the area, Village School Principal Nora Malone is organizing a closed-door meeting with local school faculty and administrators to address safety strategies and preparation. The think tank is tentatively set to take place in early March.

Ring Sells to Amazon | Pacific Palisades
Palisadian Jamie Siminoff is selling his Ring home security company to Amazon for an undisclosed amount, according to CNBC. The “smart doorbell” company, recommended by LAPD as an aid to deter burglars, was last valued at $760 million by Pitchbook.

Democrats’ Hot Topic Speakers | The Village
The Pacific Palisades Democratic Club is relaunching its Hot Topic Speaker series, starting 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13, at Palisades Branch Library on the issue of “Women Empowered.” The first speakers will be Sara Mitchell of Planned Parenthood, Nancy Pearlman of the city’s Commission on Women, Sonya Blake from the mayor’s Office of Economic Development and scientist and engineer Elana Christopoulos.

City to Maintain Beach Curfew | Pacific Palisades
The city of Los Angeles has abandoned plans to scrap the sunset to sundown curfew on five beaches, including Will Rogers State Beach. Those in favor of the curfew say it prevents crime and discourages homeless encampments: Those promoting a long-running legal suit say beaches should be open to the public 24/7 as they are unique public lands.

DRB Meeting Postponed | The Village
The next meeting of the Design Review Board was postponed from Feb. 28 to March 14. DRB members are Barbara Kohn, David Hibbert, Kelly Comras, Sarah Griffin, Donna Vaccarino and Paul Darrall, although they are actively searching for new recruits interested in defending tasteful architecture and planning in the town.

‘The Lion King JR’ Roars Into Town | Via Mesa
Theatre Palisades Youth will perform six showings of “The Lion King JR” at Pierson Playhouse. The show is directed by Lara Ganz, and produced by Harriet Fraser and Lulu Kebes.
Opening night is Friday, March 2, at 7 p.m. and the last chance to catch a show is Sunday, March 11, at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15
