Palisades Lutheran Church is gearing up for its annual Oktoberfest on Saturday, October 15—which will feature the second iteration of the 5K Charity Run & Walk from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and a party in the courtyard from 4 to 7 p.m.
“This is a fantastic day all the way around—from running/walking for your favorite charity, to having an amazing time dining and dancing at Oktoberfest,” read a flyer for the event.
The Oktoberfest event will have traditional German food, drinks, music, games and more.

Music Guild Concert | Pacific Palisades
St. Matthew’s Music Guild will open its 38th season on Friday, October 14, at 8 p.m. with a concert featuring music by Mozart, Samuel Barber and Alan Menton.
The Chamber Orchestra at St. Matthew’s, under the direction of Music Director and Conductor Dwayne Milburn, will be joined by renowned violinist Movses Pogossian.

Women’s Leadership Awards | Pacific Palisades
The Malibu Pacific Palisades Chamber of Commerce is now accepting nominations for its Women’s Leadership Awards.
Categories for nominations include Women in Philanthropy, Andy Cohen Safety Award, Women in Health Award, Community Service Award, Disaster Preparedness & Recovery Award, Women Breaking Barriers Award and Lifetime Legacy Award.
“It’s easy and fast to nominate someone,” according to information shared by the chamber. “You can nominate just one or up to seven women you know who work or have a business in Malibu or Pacific Palisades.”
Nominations close on Monday, October 17. A ceremony will take place on Thursday, November 3, starting at 11:30 a.m. at Duke’s Malibu.

TCA Hike | Temescal Gateway Park
Temescal Canyon Association will host a hike on Sunday, October 16, with a gathering time of 8:45 a.m. for a departure at 9 a.m. from the park entrance off Sunset Boulevard—marking the return of the association’s hiking program after a couple of years of hiatus.
The group will hike Waterfall Bridge through Temescal Canyon. There will be a limited number of parking passes available, with additional free street parking.

Yeehaw Day | Pacific Palisades
Palisades Charter Elementary School will host Yeehaw Day on Saturday, October 15, from 1 to 5 p.m.
Described on a flyer as “a day of fun for the whole family,” the event will feature a DJ, train, shaved ice, toddler area, bungee jump, carnival games, prizes, bake sale, rides and more.
