Rain Update | Pacific Palisades
Over the course of the last week, Pacific Palisades saw more rain, bringing the total inches of rainfall in January to “a very robust” 8.92, according to local weather authority Craig Weston who tracks rainfall data from The Huntington.
“Our yearly rainfall total now stands at 14.95 inches, as measured from July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023,” Weston shared. “The average yearly rainfall in Los Angeles is about 14.77 inches, so we have now exceeded this with the historic rainy months of February and March to come.”

E-Waste Event | Paul Revere
Paul Revere Charter Middle School—located at 1450 Allenford Avenue—will be hosting an E-Waste Event on Saturday, January 21, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.
“Want to help keep electronics out of landfills by disposing of them in a responsible way? Bring your e-waste to our free e-waste drop-off event,” according to the school’s flyer. “Your e-waste will be handled in a way that protects the planet and creates jobs for people in Los Angeles with barriers to work.”
Accepted items include desktop computers, smartphones, LCD monitors and televisions, tablets, laptops, printers and scanners, digital cameras, DVD players, keyboards, and mice.
A number of items will not be accepted, including refrigerators, air conditioners, alkaline batteries, light bulbs, curling irons, heaters or fans.

PPWC Opens Grant Application | Pacific Palisades
The Pacific Palisades Woman’s Club is beginning its 2023 grant application process for 501(c)(3) organizations seeking assistance.
“Applicants need to deliver services in Pacific Palisades or benefiting the Palisades community,” according to PPWC. “Areas considered include arts and recreation; community and charitable organizations; and education and beautification … Previous grantees need to reapply, and we welcome others to benefit from this community investment.”
Submission requests must be sent by February 28 to ppwcgrants@gmail.com. Grants will be awarded by late spring.

Book Event | Brentwood
Following the release of his memoir “God of Sperm,” Palisadian Cappy Rothman will be answering questions at a special book event at DIESEL, A Bookstore in Brentwood on Thursday, January 19, at 6:30 p.m.
“This is a true story that will forever change the way you think about medicine and science,” according to a press release. “‘God of Sperm’ tells the remarkable story of Dr. Cappy Miles Rothman, son of notorious gangster Norman ‘Roughhouse’ Rothman, who went on to become a trailblazer in the field of reproductive medicine, and changed the world’s perception of what we believe a family needs to be.”
“God of Sperm” chronicles the life of Rothman, as told by award-winning journalist, writer and editor Joe Donnelly.
