Hiker Rescued | Temescal Gateway Park
An adult female hiker was rescued from Temescal Canyon Trail in the afternoon on Sunday, January 27, after she suffered a non-life-threatening ankle injury. A Los Angeles Fire Department helicopter hoisted and transported the hiker to an area hospital.

Parts of SMMNRA Re-Open | Malibu
Staff at the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area have resumed regular operations, though some areas of the park remain closed due to impacts from the Woolsey fire.
Paramount Ranch, Rancho Sierra Vista/Satwiwa, Cheeseboro/Palo Comado Canyons, and the Santa Monica Mountains Visitor Center are open. The popular Sandstone Peak Trail has also reopened, but the rest of the park will remain closed until further notice.
“Our employees, myself included, are looking forward to rolling up our sleeves and continuing the work needed to restore our public lands and all of our trails after the devastating Woolsey fire,” SMMNRA Superintendent David Szymanski said. “Serving the American people and welcoming visitors, old and new, to LA’s national park, is what we do best.”

‘Talk Backs’ for ‘Twelfth Night’ | Via Mesa
Audience members who attend an upcoming performance of Theatre Palisades’ “Twelfth Night” will have a chance to share their thoughts and talk about the production with the cast and crew at two “Talk Backs.” The Talks Backs will take place after the February 2 performance, which will start at 8 p.m., and the Sunday, February 10, matinee, which will take place at 2 p.m.

Celebrating Eight Years | The Village
The Yogurt Shoppe will celebrate its eighth year in Pacific Palisades with a party at the Shoppe on Sunday, February 10. Festivities will include a face painter, party favors and a “buy one get one free” promotion all day.
To date, the Palisades Shoppe has raised over $75,000 through its happy hour fundraisers, which run from 5 to 7 p.m. every day.
The Yogurt Shoppe will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Garden Club Speech | Via Mesa
Registered arborist Lisa Smith and owner of The Tree Resource, a Southern California tree consulting firm, will be speaking at the Pacific Palisades Garden Club meeting on Monday, February 4, at the Pacific Palisades Woman’s Club at 7:30 p.m.
Smith has worked as a board-certified Master Arborist and a Qualified Tree Risk Assessor for over 25 years, according to the Garden Club, and will be speaking on how to properly choose, plant and care for trees so they “live long lives.”
