Just in time for the New Year, Ramanjeet Singh opened the doors to Pacific Palisades’ newest business, InstaMail Office – a one-stop shop for shipping, packing and business needs like printing and supplies.
“After working at UPS for almost three years, I noticed a real need in the community for better customer service through easier access to FedEx and DHL services,” Singh said. “I enjoyed what I was doing but I wanted to be able to give more to the community.”
Located at 865 Via de La Paz, the store offers a variety of services that Singh said are designed to meet the well-researched needs of his customers, including stationary supplies, banner and business card printing and key cutting. Singh is also an authorized notary.
“I’m hoping that as I build my customer base I will not only have their support but also their feedback,” he said. “I want to know, what can I offer you; what can I bring to the town.”
Questions like that prompted the first-time business owner to unveil an original concept, unique to Singh and his InstaMail Office.
“I’ve come up with a new idea for virtual mailboxes,” he said. “People are busy and they don’t always have time to physically go and get their mail. With their permission, we’ll be able to scan their physical mail and send it to them via email.”
Singh is working with an attorney to ensure a safe arrangement can be made between his business and his customers who elect to use this service.
Singh expressed his desire to be respectful of privacy and confidential mail, but expects his virtual mail design will work well for businesses, especially because InstaMail Office can deposit checks.
While the products and services offered at InstaMail Office may be similar to those offered at UPS stores or FedEx locations, Singh maintains that his desire to build relationships with his customers through consistently strong customer service will set his business apart.
“It’s really important to me to build relationships with my customers,” Singh said. “I can offer them the best rates and the best experience because I’m not going to have a high employee turnover. You’re going to see me [and my employees] here all the time. We know the business and have the experience to provide better service.”
For Singh, that means having good people skills as much as it means providing the right products and skills.
“It’s important to keep the conversation going with my customers, being open to their feedback and really having good communication skills,” he said. “It’s not all about the money for me; it’s about the community and earning respect.”
