Theatre Palisades Youth kicked off its latest production, “Singin’ in the Rain, Jr.” live and in-person on Friday, February 25.
“‘Singin’ in the Rain’ is one of my favorite musicals and I was thrilled to hear that it would be Theatre Palisades Youth’s winter musical. I have performed in several shows over the years, but ‘Singin’ in the Rain’ was my first TPY show,” Palisadian-Post Intern Audrey Smith said. “Rehearsals began in early January during the Omicron surge, and the cast rehearsed outside in small groups (at times literally singing in the rain). As we learned our lines and choreography, the cast bonded, and we became a close knit ‘theater family’ of third through eighth graders.
“After seven weeks of rehearsals, being able to perform on stage, alongside such a talented, hard-working cast, was definitely an experience that I will always cherish … I thought this would be my last time performing in a musical, but after experiencing the thrill of being back on stage after a long break, I know I’m not done.”
Pacific Palisades-based band Shevin performed at The Draycott on Tuesday, March 1.
Palisadian Sheri Field described the sound of Shevin as Americana,
a blend of rock, blues, jazz, pop and a little bit of country.
