Before the end of the 2021-22 academic year, Marquez Charter Elementary School hosted a campus beautification day.
The Palisades Will Rogers 5 & 10K Race on the Fourth of July attracts runners from all over the country, and that was the case again this year. Eight-year-old Elizabeth Stanton from Washington, D.C., took first place in the 10K in the Female 9-and-under age division, finishing the 6.2-mile course to Will Rogers State Historic Park and back in one hour, 21 minutes, 36 seconds. Her father John Stanton, 51, is a Pacific Palisades native and went to Corpus Christi School and Harvard-Westlake High. He returns every summer to run his hometown race.
The Rotary Club of Pacific Palisades recently presented its 2022 Entrepreneur Awards to three winners from Palisades Charter High School at a luncheon meeting at Modo Mio. First place was presented to Maya Laaly, who received the Entrepreneur Certificate of Recognition along with $500. Two second-place winners, Skyler Snyder and Aspyn Bernstein, were presented with the Entrepreneur Certificate of Recognition and $250. The awards were presented to the students by Hagop Tchakerian and Perry Akins.
“The annual award was established by Rotary to honor over 100 PCHS students who have part-time jobs after school and/or on weekends,” according to a statement from the club. “The applicants were reviewed by Rotary’s Vocational Service Committee: Chairperson Perry Akins, President Hagop Tchakerian, Trish Bowe, Jim Kirtley and Sue Pascoe.”
