In its most complete effort of the season, the Palisades Charter High School boys lacrosse team defeated Redondo Union 9-5 on March 30 at Stadium by the Sea in what coach David Bucchino called a “gut check” as several key players were missing.
Coming off their 15-4 home victory over El Camino Real two days earlier, the Dolphins tallied three unanswered goals—two by Dominic Zuniga and one by Trey Tzung—in the second quarter to take a 3-1 lead into halftime.
Axel Greve scored early ion the third quarter and Tzung added three more as the Dolphins increased the margin to 7-3. Tzung scored his fifth goal in the fourth quarter and junior goalie Harrison Kerner-Wolfowitz made 10 saves to keep the visiting Sea Hawks at bay.
The 9-5 win upped Palisades’ record to 6-3 heading into Spring Break. The Dolphins will be back in action April 11 at City rival Birmingham before traveling to Harvard-Westlake on April 12 and hosting St. John Bosco on April 14.
Meanwhile, Palisades’ girls lacrosse team hosts Birmingham on April 11. The teams met March 27 in Lake Balboa with the Dolphins prevailing 13-9.
