Palisades High varsity football players will have revenge on their minds when they host Chatsworth in their nonleague finale Friday evening at Stadium by the Sea.
The Dolphins were outscored 13-0 in the second half of a 34-27 loss to Chatsworth last season, a game in which Chancellors quarterback Tyger Goslin threw for 272 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another 165 yards.
Chatsworth reached the City Division II semifinals last season, but Goslin transferred to Moorpark and brothers Daniel and Ronald Kamulali (both wide receivers) transferred to Sierra Canyon.
Chatsworth is 0-4 under new coach Troy Cassidy, including a 43-33 loss to Huntington Park, which in turn lost to Palisades 34-14 last week, but Dolphins head coach Tim Hyde is hardly taking the winless Chancellors lightly.
“That’s a good, fast football team,” Hyde said. “Their running back has rushed for 150 yards in three out of four games. I’ve seen film and the Fairfax game was a one-score game until the fourth quarter. They also had a big lead early against Huntington Park. Sure, they lost some players but they still have a good group of kids. For us, it’s about continuing to get better and installing a few new things on offense.”
Friday’s “Football Fest” kicks off with the JV game at 4 p.m., followed by the varsity at 7.
