Eleven months ago Palisades and Fairfax met for the City Section Open Division girls basketball title. The Lions won by two points in overtime—ending the Dolphins’ two-year reign.
The teams met again in Western League action last Friday but Palisades is not the same team it was last March. Only two players are back from last year’s squad and one of them, Jane Nwaba, sat out with an injury as the Dolphins lost 69-29 to one of the City Open Division favorites.
Alexis Pettis had 14 points to lead Palisades, which split a pair of league meetings versus Fairfax last season.
On Monday, Palisades traveled to Hamilton and suffered its sixth straight defeat, 63-34.
Last Wednesday, Sammie Arnold scored 14 points, Ivy Scott had six and Alexis Pettis added five points, five rebounds and five steals in a 36-27 loss to LACES.
Palisades hosts University in its Western League finale Friday.
