Back home after stumbling in its season opener at El Camino Real, the Palisades High girls soccer squad was intent on showing Wednesday that it’s still the team to beat in the Western League.
The Dolphins cruised to a 5-0 victory over archrival Venice in their league opener at Stadium by the Sea and first-year head coach Christian Chambers liked what he saw.
“We moved the ball, we played to space, we used the whole field and we finished better,” he said.
Lulu Adams scored twice in the second half and Haydn Peffer, Erin Ross and Katie Wilkes each added a goal. Wilkes, the goalkeeper in the first half, capped the scoring two minutes before full time.
Five different players scored in Friday’s 5-0 win at Fairfax: Kaitlyn Parcell, Erin Ross, Caitlin Bremner, Lauryn Wilson and Zoe Capanna.
On Monday, Hannah de Silva and Isabella Viana each netted two goals in Palisades’ 4-0 triumph over host Hamilton. The Dolphins (3-1 overall, 3-0 in league) have 12 shutouts in their last 15 league games dating back to last season.
Palisades hosts Santa Monica in an intersectional contest Jan. 8 and resumes league play Jan. 14 at Westchester. The Dolphins beat Santa Monica 2-1 last season on first-half goals by Lil Seeley (who graduated in the spring) and Caroline Gluck.
