Despite having won two straight City Section titles the Palisades High boys water polo team is not seeded No. 1 for this year’s playoffs. That honor went to Birmingham, which went unbeaten in league play.
The Dolphins won all of their league games except one — a 9-8 loss to LACES with their starters unavailable because they were playing in the South Bay Invitational the same day — and have to settle for the No. 2 seed.
Palisades hosts 15th-seeded Verdugo Hills in the first round Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Maggie Gilbert Aquatic Center. If victorious the Dolphins will host either No. 7 El Camino Real or No. 10 LACES in the quarterfinals next Monday.
The semifinals are Thursday and the championship game is Wednesday, Nov. 19, at Contreras Learning Center. Palisades beat Birmingham 13-10 in the finals two years ago and defeated El Camino Real 11-6 in the finals last fall.
