Fresh off its first victory of the season last Friday (after five losses), the Palisades High football team will play its homecoming game tomorrow against Hamilton High, starting at 7 p.m. in the Stadium by the Sea. The JV kick-off is at 4:30. Numerous alumni activities are planned tomorrow, starting at 4:30 with a pre-game tailgate party on the PaliHi quad featuring former Pali football players, cheer and song leaders, drill team and band members. Two food trucks will in front of school starting at 2 p.m., with more trucks arriving after 4:30. A live rock band will be performing various ’60’s through ’80’s musical selections between 5:30 to 7 p.m. ’Annie Barnes and I have been coordinating hip and trendy food trucks to be present,’ said 2003 grad Sarah Atarzadeh. ‘So far we have Del’s L.A., No Tomatoes, and Slice coming, with a few more in progress.’ PaliHi 50th Anniversary T-shirts, polo shirts and zippered hoodies will be available for purchase in the quad area. For those who attend the football games, or arrive late, the football team’s parent-run Quarterback Club will be cooking up burgers, hot dogs and other treats in the stadium parking lot. Said Pali50 committee chairman Rich Wilken, ‘A special alumni cheering section will be set aside on the home side of the field, which we hope to pack to overflowing with clamorous royal blue, Columbia blue and white-clad Pali alums. We invite all former students to wear their lettermen jackets, sweaters and/or cheerleader outfits (if they still fit) to add some ‘old school’ flavor. ’Former cheerleaders who wear their old uniforms will be invited to join the current Pali cheering crew during special cheers at some point in the game. Likewise, former Pali band members are asked to bring their instruments to help support the oft-repeated Pali fight songs.’ Wilken added, ‘At halftime, all former Pali football players, cheer and song leaders, drill team and band members will be invited onto the field for a brief walk-on alumni salute.’
