Paced by seven 6th-graders from Corpus Christi School, the Pali Waves’ 12U basketball team took first place at last week’s Swoosh Fall Classic in Garden Grove for its second tournament championship.
Coached by Esteban Copado, the team beat Hearts on Fire, 47-30, to win the Gold Division. Dylan Spanier of John Adams was joined on the roster by Corpus’ Maddie Neilson, Melina Angeledes, Jacqui Diaz, Adelle Levi, Paige MacDougall, Natalia Johnson and Keili Klein. The Waves went undefeated in their fall league in Chatsworth.
