Children and families alike will be flocking to theaters next weekend to catch the newest Walt Disney Animation Studios flick “Zootopia,” with El Medio Bluffs resident Tom MacDougall at the helm of the animated film’s music production. (MacDougall was profiled in a March 2015 issue of the Palisadian-Post for his work on the Grammy-winning animated hit “Frozen” from Disney Pixar.)
“I was the music supervisor on [“Zootopia”], responsible for producing all of the music including the song ‘Try Everything’ performed by Shakira and written by Sia and Stargate and the underscore by Michael Ciacchino,” MacDougall told the Post.
“Zootopia” takes place in a modern mammal metropolis of the same name where all animals, big and small and from far and wide, live together.
Hijinks ensue when rookie Officer Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) arrives and is partnered with scam-artist fox Nick Wilde (voiced by Jason Batemen) to crack a case.
“I even wrote the lyrics to two tiny song moments—a first for me,” MacDougall said of the film, which opens in theaters everywhere on Friday, March 4.
