For the 26th year, the Friends of Robinson Gardens present the Annual Benefit Garden Tour “Pathways to Paradise”, to be held Saturday, May 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Renowned designer Hutton Wilkinson, who has said: “…the human soul needs to be enchanted with color and pageantry….” will be Grand Marshal.
The event is supported by sponsors Sotheby’s International Realty and The Sequoia Group at Morgan Stanley, Beverly Hills.
The Benefit Garden Tour is an annual event that includes lunch on the Great Lawn, an informal fashion show, a boutique with unique vendors on the tennis court and a tour of several private gardens.
The historic Robinson estate is at its finest, with special room designs and floral displays everywhere, created by the premier designers and florists of Los Angeles.
Prestige design and floral participants this year include Hermes, Cartier, Scandia Home, Silver Birches, Eddie Zaratsian Custom Florals & Lifestyle, Mayfair House, Anthropologie and Twig & Twine.
Virginia Robinson Gardens, a gift to the people of Los Angeles, is an historic house with over six acres of magnificent gardens in Beverly Hills. It was the home of Harry and Virginia Robinson, owners of the Robinson’s department store empire.
The property is owned and operated by the County of Los Angeles and supported by the non-profit Friends of Robinson Gardens.
The Main Residence – a graceful Beaux Arts-style design – was completed in 1911. The Italianate Pool Pavilion added entertaining space. The extensive, sumptuous and varied gardens were lovingly created by Virginia Robinson over 66 years.
The gardens include The Great Lawn, flanked by the Dry Border, The Italian Terrace Garden, The Citrus Garden, The Kitchen Garden, The Palm Garden and two Rose Gardens.
Docent-led walking tours of the estate are available by appointment Tuesdays through Fridays at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. The Benefit Garden Tour is the only day when the entire estate is open to the public.
