Police Friday are warning the public of a burglary crew that is targeting homes in the West L.A. area under the guise of maids looking for work.
The scheme involves two women posing as maids who knock on doors seeking work. If the homes are unoccupied, the two women then signal their male counterparts to enter the home, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Police believe the group is responsible for several burglaries in the West L.A. area and surrounding Westside communities, including a burglary in the 15000 block of Hamner Drive in Bel-Air.
Witnesses have described the group’s vehicle as a four-door white Buick Enclave.
Authorities are asking anyone with information about these crimes to contact the West L.A. Burglary Detective Chavarria at (310) 444-1538 or call 1-877-LAPD-247. Anonymous tipsters can call 1-800-222-TIPS, police said in a news release.
