The state-backed California Geological Survey has issued the first official draft map for fault lines in the Westside, which shows the “Santa Monica Fault” running underneath Rustic Canyon, The Huntington and Via Bluffs. These maps could result in tighter home-building restrictions. Palisadians can voice comments to the State Mining and Geology Board by Oct. 11. In 2016, city of Los Angeles engineers identified 402 buildings in Pacific Palisades that may be at risk of collapse in an earthquake, many some distance from the Santa Monica Fault. —JOHN HARLOW
