Rain fell more heavily than anticipated early this week, bolstering Los Angeles’ rainiest season in a decade but also contributing to the infrastructure woes that have accompanied heavy rainfall in recent months.
As of Tuesday, Pacific Palisades had received 17.42” this rainy season, measured from July 1 to June 30 each year. That’s according to hyper-local weather tracker Craig Weston’s station in The Huntington.
A much larger storm is already projected to touchdown on Friday.
That could mean more trouble for Palisadian storeowner Erica Simpson, who walked into her Swarthmore shop, P2, on Tuesday to find it had been flooded. “We are definitely going to have to close,” Simpson said while surveying the damage.
The owner said that this was not the first time the store had been flooded recently, but this was the most extensive damage. Neighboring stores have not been affected, but with the downpour projected for Friday, that could change.
