August 27, 1930 – September 2, 2023
Richard passed away at home in Pacific Palisades on Saturday morning, September 2, surrounded by his two daughters. He was 93.
Richard was a beloved father. He is survived by his children, Lisa Le Goater, Adam Galaif, Elizabeth Galaif and by his only brother, Steven Galaif. He was a cherished father-in-law to Robin Galaif and Jean Claude Le Goater. He was the grandfather of Luc Galaif, Alexander Le Goater, Sam Galaif and Etienne Le Goater. Richard had survived his first wife Elaine, and Martha, his second wife of 50 years.
Richard was born in New York City to Ethel and David Galaif. Growing up in New York Richard developed a lifelong passion for the theatre, opera and classical music.
Richard moved to Los Angeles in 1948, and attended undergraduate at UCLA and graduate school at USC. Richard resided in the Palisades for the last 52 years of his life in the same home where he took an avid interest in horticulture and the wildlife in which he was blessed to be immersed.
Richard devoted his life to not only helping many people through his social work profession, but to his family to whom he gave all his love, affection and support throughout his life. He will be remembered for his remarkable kindness, his gentle demeanor and the wise counsel he offered to all he encountered.
