Funny man and longtime Palisadian Adam Sandler teams up with fellow “Saturday Night Live” alum Chris Rock in “The Week Of”—which follows the story of two families planning a wedding.
Rock, father of the groom (played by Roland Buck III), and Sandler, father of the bride (Allison Strong), struggle to work together during what turns into a chaotic week leading up to the nuptials.
Rock and Sandler are joined by Rachel Dratch, also from “SNL,” and Steve Buscemi. The film is produced by Allen Covert, Kevin Grandy and Sandler himself.
“The Week Of,” directed by Robert Smigel, marks the fourth film in a Netflix and Sandler contract, following “The Ridiculous 6,” “The Do Over” and “Sandy Wexler.”
Reviews for three of Sandler’s previous Netflix installments have not been favorable.
According to Rotten Tomatoes, “The Do Over” scored about 5 percent and “The Ridiculous 6” came in at 0 percent. “Sandy Wexler” fared a bit better—with 29 percent.
Though, according to Variety, Netflix’s “The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected)” “earned Sandler some of the best reviews of his career,” scoring 92 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
Hopefully the fifth installment is received well with audiences before Sandler gets to work on the next two films in his eight-movie contract: “Murder Mystery,” where Sandler is joined by Jennifer Aniston, and “Uncut Gems.”
Get your queues ready: “The Week Of” premieres April 27 on Netflix.
