On November 9, Palisades Branch Library will feature the tension-filled thriller “Hotel Mumbai” during its Saturday Movie Matinee at 1 p.m.
Based on a true story, the film stars famed British actor Dev Patel, known for “Slumdog Millionaire” and “Lion,” along with Jason Isaacs, Armie Hammer, Nazanin Boniadi and Anupam Kher.
The film focuses on real life events about hotel guests trapped inside the Taj Mahal Palace and Tower Hotel in India for three days while four armed men roamed the hotel and shot people at random.
According to history, the Mumbai terrorist attacks took place from November 26 to 29, 2008, resulting in the deaths of over 174 people, including nine of the 10 attackers. Another 300 or more people were injured.
Directed by Australian director Anthony Maras, the film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2018. “Hotel Mumbai” went on to win the Directors to Watch Award at the 2018 Palm Springs International Film Festival and the Audience Award at the 2018 Adelaide Film Festival.
Rated R, the film is intended for adults and runs for 123 minutes.
