Scott Rutherford, surrounded by family and friends, passed away suddenly at UCLA Medical Center on Tuesday, February 26. He was 56.
Born on November 29, 1956 in Palo Alto, Scott grew up in Northern California. He graduated from Stanford University and UC Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall). Scott lived in Pacific Palisades for the past 27 years, where his neighbors were used to seeing him working in the garden and walking his golden retriever, Luci.
Loved deeply and already sorely missed, Scott will be well remembered by his family and friends for his warm and contagious smile and generous spirit. Best known for his love for life and adventure, Scott had many passions, including world travel, skiing, sailing and paddle tennis at the Bel-Air Bay Club.
Scott was preceded in death by his mother Lillian (Hahn). He is survived by his beloved wife Marilyn; father Ken (“He was a damn fine son”); sister Lynn Bridson and son-in-law Paul from the Catlins, New Zealand; and daughters Camille and Carly. Scott was a loving and cherished uncle to Nicole, Michelle, Zach, Lauren, Alex and Brooke.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date in Northern California. Scott’s remains will be scattered in one of his favorite places: the Back Bowls of Vail, Colorado.
