More than 120 firefighters responded to a small brush fire near the 500 block of Palisades Drive on Monday, September 30, around 12 p.m.
The fire burned less than two acres and threatened hillside homes in the southern part of The Highlands, prompting no evacuations and closing the street to incoming traffic for a short period of time.
Eye witnesses reported a spark from a nearby welder set the hill ablaze, but fire officials did not have an official cause as of Tuesday, October 1.
“It’s still categorized as under investigation,” said a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department.
