When it comes to celebrating moms, there is no shortage of Mother’s Day events and gifts in the area. The Palisadian-Post has assembled a few suggestions here.
Mother’s Day Picnic
The Palisades-Malibu YMCA will be hosting its first Mother’s Day Picnic at Simon Meadow for active members on Saturday, May 13, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“Bring your picnic blankets and food,” according to the website. “We will bring the music, arts and crafts, games, and popcorn.”
The event—open to all ages—is free for Y members and their families to attend.

“Treat Mom to a special Mother’s Day dinner this year,” the restaurant wrote. “We will be serving our regular menu plus a few specials.”

Brunch options include Poached Salmon, Crab Cakes, and Vegetable Quiche or Quiche Lorraine—which all come with pixie tangerine salad, fresh fruit, a rustic demi baguette and Pie Hole Nutella chocolate pastry bites.
“Let us do the work so you can relax and have quality time with the ones you love,” according to the website.

Palisades Gift Shop
Locally owned and operated Palisades Gift Shop has curated a list of Mother’s Day gifts—with items like the Happy Place Etched Mug, Palisades Keychain and Pali Girl Seagrass Tote Bag.
“Our mission is to give the Palisades a small shop for a small town,” the store’s website read. “A go-to for families of all ages to shop and show their Pali Pride.”
A pop-up shop has been extended for one more day on Friday, May 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 15207 Friends Street. All warehouse sale items will be available for up to 60% off.

‘MOMentum Place’
The annual performance of Lexi Pearl’s “MOMentum Place”—bringing together “modern dance, aerial acts, juggling and performance art”—returns to Theatricum Botanicum’s stage in Topanga on May 14 at 2 p.m.
“Every year on Mother’s Day, ‘MOMentum Place’ creates a fantastical world of aerial and circus performers, dancers, and musicians in the rustic outdoor amphitheater at the Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum,” according to an email about the event. “Bring your mother to honor the MOMentum in her life—always on the go for others. Now, she can sit back and relax, and enjoy an uncommon afternoon of performance delights that are kid-friendly and full of surprises.”
Tickets are $40 for adults, $20 for students with ID and $15 for children 12 and under, and available at theatricum.com.
Stay in and Stream
Mother’s Day can bring up some complicated emotions as well—so for those who want to stay in, there are a few options for things to stream that have ties to Pacific Palisades.
May 14 brings a new episode of the final season of “Barry,” created by and starring Marquez Knolls resident Bill Hader, to HBO. Palisadian Ben Affleck’s “Air,” also starring former local Matt Damon, will become available for streaming globally via Prime Video on May 12.
