Palisades Charter High School is treading on forbidden grounds with its production of “Spring Awakening,” an often-banned 1891 German play about teenage sexual ignorance and repression. It tells the story of Wendla and her lover Melchoir in the grips of destructive passion. They are played by junior songbird Roberta Alaman and the school’s varsity quarterback Gabe Galef. The PaliHi version, based on the 2006 Tony Award-winning musical, is rated “mature” and opens on Thursday, March 16.
