For me, summer has always been the perfect time to catch up on reading. Whether I am sitting poolside, at the beach, on a long flight, or curling up in my bed with my dog, I am reading every chance I get.
This summer I have been trying to read one book a week, and I am excited to share my recent favorites.
“The Summer I Turned Pretty” trilogy by Jenny Han is the ultimate summer series and one of my all time favorites. Belly Conklin, a 15 year old girl, has always looked forward to the summer. Spending all summer in a beach house in the small town of Cousins with her mom and older brother, along with brothers Jeremiah and Conrad Fisher and their mom.
For her whole life, the boys have always thought of Belly as a younger sister. But this summer something changed, and they both confess their love for her. She must choose between Jeremiah or Conrad, and leave one of them heartbroken.

This series is the perfect summer beach read, and will always keep you hooked with its exciting love triangle and summer vibe. Amazon Prime has just released the series, so I recommend reading the books and watching the show before the summer is over!
“Love & Gelato” by Jenna Evans Welch has been my other favorite. This story is about an 18-year-old girl named Lina who is about to start college when she loses her mother to cancer.
When feeling lost, she realizes that her mother’s wish was for Lina to visit Italy one day and meet her father, Howard Mercer. Lina has to learn to live in a new place with new people and new experiences, for a whole summer.
When she finds out her mother left her a journal filled with her own journeys and experiences in Italy during her 20s, she lives her life through her mother. She learns all about Italy, relationships, and even uncovers things about herself that she never knew.
“Love & Gelato” is an adventurous mystery and romance novel, perfect for summer reading.
It can be hard to start or get back into reading, but these books were some of my favorites that helped me fall back in love with reading.
