A high surf advisory remains active today, Oct. 6, for Will Rogers State Beach, a day after an unconscious woman was pulled from the water by Los Angeles County Lifeguards.
The woman was hospitalized Sunday evening after being rescued from rough surf off of Will Rogers State Beach in the 16300 block of Pacific Coast Highway, according to authorities. The woman found unconscious at about 5:15 p.m. and pulled from the water by lifeguards, who used a defibrillator to start her heart.
She was taken to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Westwood in unknown condition by city firefighters.
The woman’s condition was not made immediately available but authorities believe that rough water and strong rip currents played a part in the incident.
Lifeguards are continuing to warn the public of a high surf advisory today.
The weather service issued a high surf advisory for southwest facing beaches in Los Angeles County, including Will Rogers State Beach from Monday, Oct. 6, to Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 9 p.m.
Forecasters are expecting surf to increase from 6 to 8 feet by Monday morning through Tuesday when the advisory is scheduled to expire.
Authorities are warning the public of strong rip and long shore currents that are also expected to make conditions more difficult in the water. According to the NWS, the locations most impacted are beaches facing south through southeast such as Zuma beach in Malibu and Will Rogers in Pacific Palisades.
