The Pacific Palisades Task Force on Homelessness (PPTFH) has been named Pride of the Palisades by the Pacific Palisades Community Council (PPCC) to be awarded on Dec. 10 at the PPCC Holiday Dinner and Awards Gala.
The Pride of the Palisades title is a discretionary award given out under a special circumstance determined by the Awards Selection Committee to an outstanding individual or group in the community.
“We are thrilled,” said Maryam Zar, PPTFH chair.
Many of the nominees for the PPCC awards were PPTFH members, which led the council to recognize the entire task force with the Pride of the Palisades award.
Although many of the PPTFH board members had already heard the news, they were very excited when Zar informed them of the council’s decision. The task force was initially a PPCC committee and then branched out as a separate group about a year ago.
Zar said receiving this award is a testament to the community support that the task force has.
The PPTFH leadership board plans to accept the award as a group and will figure out how to best share the honor. Perhaps moving it from residence to residence, Zar said.
Moving forward, the task force continues by the encouragement and support from the community. The diversity of the members is another factor in keeping the group inspired.
“We’re pretty motivated even without the award,” Zar said.
The PPCC Holiday Dinner and Awards Gala will be hosted at Gladstones Restaurant and tickets cost $85 per person. For more information, visit pp90272.org.
