This winter, the Palisadian-Post welcomes five new interns who will assist in producing the paper by providing editorial support through stories and editing. Here is the final intern introduction. Four additional intros were published in the January 5 edition.
Describing myself has been one of the hardest tasks I have dealt with for many years, but I have slowly been able to accomplish it.
Born and raised in Brentwood, I attended Kenter Canyon Elementary School, followed by Paul Revere Charter Middle School, and I am currently a freshman at Palisades Charter High School.
I enjoy dancing, baking and spending time with my family, but my most prized possessions are my two cats. My favorite color is pink, my favorite holiday is Christmas and my favorite show is “Manifest” on Netflix. I speak Farsi and English, and am learning to speak French.
I took an interest in journalism when I noticed my next-door neighbor receiving the daily newspaper. I always enjoyed writing, but never enjoyed the standard writing styles that we used in school. Journalism is a fun way to work on my writing skills, as well as stay up to date with the interesting stuff around me.
Over the course of this internship I hope to improve my writing while doing something I enjoy. I would like to improve my collaboration skills, communication skills, as well as my ability to take criticism from others.
Communication is a key factor in being able to survive in a workplace, and I believe there is always room to grow, which the Palisadian-Post would allow me to do. Overall, I hope to build connections, as well as gain experience, whether or not I want to pursue journalism in the future.
