Thomas William McCloy, 69, of Woodland Hills, California, passed away peacefully at Cedars Sinai Medical Center on June 24. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph McCloy in 2003 and Mary Margaret McCloy in 2007, of Pacific Palisades, California.
Born on December 13, 1952, Tom was raised in the Palisades, attended Corpus Christi School and St. Monica Catholic High School and received his Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1974.
During his high school years, Tom was a standout basketball player. A dedicated sports fan throughout his life, he maintained an informed passion for collegiate and professional sports especially football, basketball and baseball.
Tom’s career was centered in the transportation industry earlier with the Mike Conrotto Trucking Corp. and, most recently, with Brent Redmond Transportation, Inc. These roles leveraged Tom’s logistics expertise, his affinity for people and abiding sense of humor.
Tom maintained avid interests in cycling, cooking, reading, painting and music. A lifelong surfer, Tom will be fondly remembered for his love of the ocean, stories of which he generously shared with family and friends.
Tom is survived by his wife, Tamara Duffy McCloy of Woodland Hills, his siblings Michael McCloy of Mesa, Arizona, John McCloy of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Patricia McCloy Ross of University Place, Washington, and Kathleen McCloy-Raleigh, of Jaffrey, New Hampshire, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements for a celebration of Tom’s life will be shared over the coming weeks.
