  Greg Alper’s Young Musicians Big Band celebrates its first anniversary with a performance from 3 to 5 p.m. at Steve’s Sports Bar, 1035 Swarthmore. Alper’s Young Jazz Combo will also perform.

  The monthly Moonday in the Village features poets Stacy Gnall and Sonia Greenfield at 7:30 p.m. in the Buerge Chapel, 925 Haverford. Open reading sign-up starts at 6:30.

TUESDAY, JUNE 12

  Swazzle presents ‘Dream Carver,’ a puppet show for children of all ages and their families, 4 p.m. at the Palisades Branch Library community room. Sign up for the Summer Reading Club following the show.

  Temescal Canyon Association’s Tuesday Night Hike will explore beautiful upper Santa Ynez Canyon. Meet for carpooling at 6 p.m. in the Temescal Gateway parking lot, corner of Sunset and Temescal Canyon Road. Expect to be back about 8 to 8:30 p.m. No dogs. Information: visit temcanyon.org.
