SATURDAY, OCTOBER 27

  Volunteers are invited to join the monthly workday at the Native Plant Garden in Temescal Canyon Park, any time between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., on Temescal Canyon Road just south of Antioch. ‘This Saturday we will put in new plants, trim dead foliage, and pull weeds,’ said organizer Barbara Marinacci.

  Kids, teens and adults are invited to watch a free screening of ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire,’ fourth movie in the Harry Potter Film Festival, 2 p.m. in the Palisades Branch Library community room, 861 Alma Real. Free admission. Join in the fun and the play the ‘Mystery Quiz’ and possibly win a prize. Hint: Brush up on your spells. The quiz will be handed out at the movie.

  Ceramist Moye Thompson’s new show, ‘Within,’ opens with a reception for the artist from 5 to 8 p.m. at Gallery 169 on West Channel Road in Santa Monica Canyon. (See story, page 14.)
