I love when I am finally able to say that I have no homework and that it is finally summer, but this year I got to experience something even better: a trip with my dad. After my sleepaway camp in Maine ended, my mom surprised my siblings and me with a trip that just my dad would take us on because unfortunately she couldn’t go too. My dad decided to take us to Cabo, Mexico.
We got to stay in a friend’s house and it was beautiful. The ocean was right outside the window, and there were even seven pools at the resort that the house was on! And even better, the resort had kids’ massages, and we definitely took advantage of that. My sister and I even went as far to try out the cold plunge and I think her exact words were, “OMG my lungs are closing up!!!” At lunch though came the best part, the sea bobs.
At the resort they had these things called sea bobs that you would hold on to like a jet ski but then your legs would be in the water and it could take you all the way underwater. It was one of the most exciting things I have ever done. And we always did it around lunch time so the ocean was as blue and clear as ever.
On the second day my dad had booked us a camel ride. I know! I thought camels were just in Egypt! But sure enough there were camels in Cabo. My sister and I shared a camel and it was so funny. The camel would walk like it was bouncing so I would bounce, and then my sister would bounce and we went on like that for 30 minutes. But after you got off the camel you would walk funny like you couldn’t move your legs.
At dinner, we tried to eat at a different restaurant each night, but we did have a favorite. It was a gorgeous spot right next to the ocean, and you could hear the waves crashing as you sat there. The most amazing thing about this restaurant was a special area a little further away from everything else. It was so close to the water and had lights leading up to it. We went to that spot on our last night and it was awesome.
We did one evening activity that was actually so amazing, we watched a movie on the beach! After dinner one night we went down to the beach where there was a big blowup screen and lounge chairs with a full-blown candy bar and popcorn machine. I had never seen anything like it. We decided on “Thor Ragnarok,” and stayed up until about 1030 just watching a movie on the beach.
So I can officially say that that trip with my dad was an amazing experience and I will never forget this summer. My siblings and I had an awesome time hanging out with my dad in a new place that we got to explore with him. I am so happy that I got to have this time with him this summer!
