Missing in Action
Pretty sad the paucity of American flags displayed on homes on Memorial Day as a token of appreciation to those who made the ultimate sacrifice so the current generations of Palisadians can enjoy Rick Caruso’s new village. Required viewing: “Glory,” “The Best Years of Our Lives,” “Saving Private Ryan.”
Highland Shortfall
All Highlanders are happy to finally receive a return on their generous tax contributions. The city has resurfaced Palisades Drive and eliminated 200-plus potholes in the process. But what is the rational stopping short of the finish line by neglecting the final quarter mile into Sunset Boulevard? We are all curious.
T-Ballers
We absolutely loved photos of the fabulous T-ballers last week. Filled our hearts with such joy. And they were great pics! Kudos to the photographer Rich Schmitt.
Bus Busybody
My family walks by Pali High every morning on the way to school in the Village. Every morning at 8 a.m. like clockwork, about 10 school buses pull out onto Bowdoin, make a right on Temescal Canyon and continue down the hill to God knows where. Because at 1:45 p.m. the exact same buses return back to Pali High. Why can’t the buses remain at Pali High or nearby to save fuel and spare our wonderful El Medio Bluffs unnecessary diesel fumes? Signed, “Bus Busybody.”
Free Parking—The Sequel
You have free car storage over on El Oro Lane! We can beat that. Over on Albright, we have a couple that has been living in their van for more than two years. In addition to the van, they each drive a BMW station wagon and now have added a motorcycle to their entourage. The van is pushed every three to four days about two to three feet, and the man photographs its location. They have been reported countless times to Parking Authority and to Mike Bonin’s office. Nobody does anything. No wonder there is no parking here by our new village.
Last-Minute Help
Just wanted to thank the owners at Isarose Flower Shop (on Swarthmore in the Village) for getting us out of a prom pinch! We needed a last-minute corsage and minutes before closing time, they were so gracious and helpful. They made the most beautiful corsage and stayed late so we could pick it up. We would like the community to know how wonderful they are!!
Last-Minute Deal
We all love Norris Hardware and are praying that a last-minute deal can save this institution from being turned into something we don’t need. The people there are great, and they are part of our lives in the community.
Norris II
For the 23 years we have lived in the Palisades, the friendly staff at Norris has helped with countless repairs/supplies. In the last three weeks we have made the five-minute trip there for a shower head, light bulbs, garden soil and shop towels. My son has gotten tools and advice on building projects since he was 4. I have told the loyal staff how lucky we are to have them here, but since reading your article, it’s really sinking in. If they do close and are able to relocate, I will shop there. I selfishly hope they are able to stay in the community! (Editor’s note: Us too!)
