Village School transitional kindergarteners raised more than $100 at their lemonade stand located on the corner of La Cruz and Swarthmore on Monday, May 18. The money was raised to plant trees through the Arbor Day Foundation, which will plant a tree in one of America’s national forests for every dollar raised, according to Village School parent Samantha Firestone.

“The assignment was to ‘earn’ the money themselves—although, I think they ate as many cookies and drank as much lemonade as they sold!” Firestone said.
Transitional kindergarten teacher Beth Reilly helped students decorate “Save the Trees” boxes to collect money raised. For each dollar raised, the Arbor Day foundation will plant a tree.
