It was a busy weekend for a team from the Westside Aquatics water polo program.
The 14-and-under boys squad qualified for the Junior Olympics, toured the Navy SEAL facilities in Coronado (even getting to try much of the famous obstacle course) and took second out of 17 teams in its division during Saturday and Sunday’s Bigfoot Classic Tournament at Pomona College in Claremont, which featured nine divisions ranging from 10-and-under to 18-and-under.
Three boys (Oliver Grant, Theo Trask and Michail Melnik) played both the 14-and-under and 16-and-under divisions.
Grant, Maximo Speiser and Daniel Escajeda are participating in the USC Jovan Vavic Water Polo Camp this week.
The 14-and-under boys team, coached by Adam Blakis, consisted of Grant, Speiser, Trask, Melnik, Escajeda, Stuart Brien, Zach Wunder, Ben Schiff and Zeke Ramirez.
