The Grow Native Nursery, located on the grounds of the West Los Angeles VA, will host a wildflowers talk from 1 to 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 21. The talk is free and open to the public.
Bart O’Brien will discuss “California Wildflowers and Early California Nurseries,” focusing on the unusual journey that California native wildflowers took into our gardens. Many traveled to Europe and then back to California, while others came to us directly from a small number of early California nurseries. O’Brien, director of special projects at Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden in Claremont, will focus on some of our most popular native wildflowers and how they moved from the wild to home gardens from the late 1830s to about 1940.
