Clean Up
If you need to get outside and work off some of your kids’ energy, please think about doing some weeding and gardening in local public spaces. The Swarthmore and Bowdoin embankments at Palisades Elementary need TLC and could accommodate a number of busy workers with appropriate social distancing. The N/E/X/T native plant garden on Temescal is another spot that comes to mind.
Masks
I see that the Post is doing a lot of coverage on the stay at home order and mask making but last Friday night at the Mount Holyhoke bluff park there must have been 30-40 people in there. I was told from a friend of mine that the police were there several days before to clear them out. The atmosphere was like a party, no social distancing, no one wearing masks. There is even a sign up there that says the park is open only for exercise not for loitering.
One World
Former First Ladies Michelle Obama and Laura Bush, to their credit, helped raise millions of dollars for “One World: Together at Home,” which goes to aid first responders and those who fight the coronavirus. Good for them. But where was Melania Trump? Was she even invited? Interestingly, Mrs. Obama and Mrs. Bush consider themselves Christians. Why not show a little Christian compassion and courtesy to Mrs. Trump occasionally?
Leaf Blowers
If Trump were an inventor, he would have created the gas-powered leaf blower.
Beach Closures
It is infuriating to drive along Pacific Coast Highway and see people lined up and sitting near or on their cars because the beach is closed. The weather is only going to get nicer, people more stir crazy. Please stay home.
Cheers for Cheers
It gives me so much hope that community members are rallying to cheer on our health care workers! It’s a little contribution but it can go a long way to boost morale in these trying times.
